The balanced running group

A couple of months ago I discovered a new running store in downtown Kent. Cool little place called The Balanced Athlete. I had been drawn to it because it was local (no more drive to Tacoma for “stuff”) and because it has a treadmill/video camera setup for analyzing your running.

I had been dealing with a nagging ache in my left leg (thigh/knee/calf) for a few months and after Eric (the owner) taped my run, he found a better pair of shoes for my stride and educated me to a more appropriate shoe size. The problems and aches are all but gone :-)

More than a store and better than the new shoes though, has been the group runs that Eric organizes a few times each week. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays we do anything from 4 to 7 miles. Deepends on how we all feel. This evening a good crew – 6 of us through downtown, past Kent Station and up to the Interurban trail. Left onto 228th St and along to the Green River Trail, where we wound our way back riverside in the dark (I was the only one with a headlight… lead on Rankin). We ran 6.6 miles in about 52 mins and were back just before the rain started – oh joy.

It always seems to go quicker and easier when you have a few people to talk with as you run. A welcome change fromall that solitary training type of running I had been doing for a few months.
