4 miles early this morning

Three days off is enough… today should have been a rest day, but I woke early and just had to get some miles in. It was cold and drizzly this morning when I stepped out the door at 5:30am, the roads were still deserted, still only a dull light through the overcast. It was perfect for a run.

I made the 2 miles to Green River College in quick time, it felt easy and I had to keep slowing down to keep it to an average 8:00min/mile. At the parking lot I added a slow 1/4 mile jog to 116th – stretched for a couple of minutes – then did the 1/4 mile back to the college lot slowly.

On the return 2 miles to the farm I let myself run at whatever pace felt comfortable. It was still cool with a light drizzle and now heading North there was a great little breeze to help keep me cool. It seemed natural and easier to run at a quicker pace – the return leg averaged 7:40 min/mile.

It was one of the best runs I have had for a couple of months. Not the longest and not the fastest, but certainly very satisfying in how it felt. The 3 day rest surely helped.
